World Card Making Day Blog Hop 2017

Happy Saturday everyone! You have arrived at Carolynn Sander's blog in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. If you have been hopping along, you most likely arrived via Maria Willis! Wasn't her card today beautiful?  I am so happy to have you here with me today! Why? Well because it is "World Card Making Day"! & Guess what! I L-O-V-E making cards! So to celebrate, a few of my favourite Stampin' Up! friends from around the world are hosting an international "World Card Making Day" blog hop! Wahoo! Make sure that you click on the next button at the end of today's post. That way you won't miss out on all of the the amazing projects to be shared!

I truly think that snail mail doesn't receive it's proper ranking in the world these days. To send a loving message by mail has become a rarity anymore. World Card Making Day is a day for us to revisit just how much a loving message can mean to someone.  Receiving a hand made card overjoys me. It fills my soul with warmth, in same way that the human touch does. So what do you say? Let's celebrate this day by making a card, and sending a card! You will for sure bring a smile to a loved one's face.💖

The card that I am sharing with you today is a seasonal one. It is a great card for all levels of stampers. It uses one of my current favourite techniques called "Ink Lifting". I have a full video tutorial featuring this technique in my previous post. You can view it by clicking HERE. This card is of course a winter themed card. I therefore wanted my background to look like a stormy night sky. How did I do this? I first created a Dapper Denim background with my Stampin' Up! sponge brayer, a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock, and some Dapper Denim ink. I then took a toothbrush dipped in water and flicked it vigorously all over my background to get that stormy splatter! It turned out just the way I wanted. Don't you love it when that happens?  I completed this stormy sky by adding a few die cut snowflakes from the Stampin' Up! Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. I then gave those snowflakes some extra glimmer by painting over them with my Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush. This card has incredible sparkle in real life! & Who doesn't love some extra sparkle right?

That's it for me today, but I know that Charlet Mallett, from Painted Orange, will have something fabulous to share with us today! Click on the next button below so that you can see what she has been up to!
