Card in a Box Tutorial - #TGIFC144

Hi everyone! Welcome to another fun Friday with the TGIF Challenges team! My name is Carolynn Sander. I am a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The card that I am featuring today is actually one that I shared a while back. Why have I decided to share it with you again? Well the theme over at TGIF Challenges this week is "Card in a Box". I had offered to create a tutorial for the TGIF Challenge this week quite some time ago. In order to streamline things for myself (ie. make life a wee bit simpler), I decided to create the tutorial based on this card. I hope you enjoy it! As well, remember to check out the TGIF Challenges site today! There are lots of inspiring ideas! If you feel inclined, we would love to have you join in with us this week! Have fun creating your masterpiece and upload it to your blog or favourite social media site. Then share it to our page! The more the merrier!

Have you ever created a "Card in a Box"? Or have you heard of the idea before? Before I had tried to tackle my own "Card in a Box", many stunning "Card in a Box" projects had caught my eye online. These fun cards have been floating around the web for a quite a few years now. There are so many out there, that I truly don't know who the originator of this fabulous idea was. At first attempt, they can seem rather tricky and overwhelming. But like anything, with practice they become much easier to reproduce. I hope today's video tutorial helps you to create your own "Card in a Box". Meanwhile, if you have any questions feel free to message me below, or shoot me an email. I would be happy to help you!

So that's the tutorial, and here are a few close up shots of this project...

Well what do you think? Actually... do you know what I think? I think you should join us this week, create a "Card in a Box" and share it with us! You can get so creative with this type of a project! I want to see your "Outside of the Box" ideas! Remember to post them to your blog or social media site, and share them with us over at TGIF Challenges!

Thank you so much for visiting today! I hope that you have enjoyed today's project! Remember to stop by the TGIF Challenges site and join in the fun this week! A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Heartfelt Love Notes

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope that 2018 has been treating you well so far! For those who may be new here, my name is Carolynn Sander. I am Canadian Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator located in Calgary, Alberta. Today's post is showcasing the Heartfelt Love Notes Paper Pumpkin kit! This kit is perfect for Valentine's Day, which OMG is right around the corner! There are so many things you can do with this month's kit! You will see what I mean when you check out today's blog hop. Make sure to click on the next button at the end of this post so that you don't miss out on all of the Paper Pumpkin inspiration!

In the photo above you can see what the intended projects are to look like this month if you follow the instructions Stampin' Up! has given you. Check out all of the supplies included in this month's kit in the photo below! Designing an alternative project isn't all that tricky when your Paper Pumpkin kit comes with such an array of stamping products!

Now here is the offbeat project that I came up with for this month!

I decided to create something special for the month of February that would go to good loving use. I hence stamped an entire mini note pad. Yes, every sheet of paper in this pad is stamped like you see above. I then decorated the mini note pad, and created three mini envelopes, using the supplies in my January Paper Pumpkin kit. Are you curious as to what this is all for? Well I am going to have our three children write a message for one of their siblings each and every night for the month of February. It has to be a kind message of course. The kids will then place the mini messages under one another's pillows at night so that they can read them in the morning. I figure it will be a nice way for them to wake up, as well a as a great way for them to reflect upon each other and be thankful for their siblings. Here's to hoping all goes as planned! lol

I decided to utilize the Birthday Mini Binder Clips from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Occasions Catalogue to act as a closure for the envelopes. That way the lil munchkins should be able to use these envelopes over and over again. The Basic Black 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon was then calling my name, as it looks so splendid with these clips! It's all good... now I have the ribbon in this month's kit stashed away for another future project!

And here is a close up of the top of the note pad. I have to point out (as shown in the photo below), that a portion of this decor is a belly band. Why? Well so it can slide off, making it easier to pull out the pages of paper from the note pad. It can't just be cute, it must be functional as well right?

Are you wondering how I created the mini envelopes? I actually dismantled the cards in the kit. Yep, I pulled em apart! Eeeeek! I then chopped a 3 by 3 inch square with the material, such as the one you see below.

My Stampn' Up! envelope punch board made the rest a breeze! I simply aligned my paper with the 1&1/2 inch mark on the punch board. I then punched and scored each side. I also rounded the corners of my envelopes with the corner rounder that is part of this board! Cool huh? Cool... and oh so easy!

That's it for today! I hope you are inspired by today's project! And I hope that you find a way to share the love for the month of February! Now I need to find a way to utilize the rest of my supplies in this month's kit! Hmmmmm... I am sure the projects in this month's blog hop will help me come up with some more ideas! Next up is Melissa Davies! She is always coming up with fab Paper Pumpkin projects! Click on the next button below so that you don't miss out!

Today's card is one that I created for my display board at the Stampin' Up! Live OnStage event held in Salt Lake City last November! It was an experience of a lifetime for me to go and share my handmade projects with a crowd of over 2000 Stampin' Up! demonstrators. This card uses one of my favourite stamp sets from the Stampin' Up! 2018 catalogue, "Bird Banter". My Stampin' Up! Aqua Painters made watercolouring these little birdies a breeze! I love the soft look you get with watercolouring. It's heavenly!

Well what do you think? Are you going to whip out your Aqua Painters now? Or how about create a card for your fave friend? Someone out there that you would share your branch with would love to receive a card in the mail like the one I have shared with you today!
