Let's Get Hopping Round 7 - Handmade Easter

Well hello everyone! I hope that you had a fabulous February! If you are new here my name is Carolynn Sander. I am a Canadian Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator from Calgary, Alberta. I am so happy to have you here with me today! If you have been hopping along, you most likely arrived here via the lovely Jennifer Frost ! Wasn't her project today fabulous? The theme for today's blog hop is "Handmade Easter, ANYTHING BUT A CARD". I have a non-chocolate themed project to share with you today. Shame on me (I know). The Easter Bunny would be disappointed, I fully realize that. I am sure we will have enough chocolate hanging around here in another month or so though. As well, I am still trying to burn through that extra winter weight. lol So yes, today's project features one of my most favourite Stampin' Up! sets from the annual catalogue called "Tranquil Tulips". Tulips are my favourite flower, and there is an abundance of them around here come spring. To change it up, I decided to stamp my tulips here today on an LED wax candle. It turned out even better than I had imagined.

If you are unsure how to stamp on candles, well it is quite simple. You actually stamp your image on a piece of white tissue paper first. You then cut the stamped image out with your paper snips. Next step is you position it where you would like it on your candle (ink side down with the ink facing the candle). You then wrap a sheet of wax paper over the image, and heat it with your heat tool. The heat tool will melt the image into your candle so that the two become one (be careful not to overheat it). Lastly, you pull away the wax paper and voila! You will have yourself a beautiful stamped candle like the one that you see here today.

I have always loved the idea of stamping on candles this way, but I truly didn't like the idea of lighting a candle that had tissue paper embedded in it. I was therefore so excited when I saw these candles at my local Shopper's Drug Mart! They are LED (Flameless), but they still have a wax finish. They worked perfectly with this technique here today. Now I have a beautifully stamped spring time candle that I can bring out every Easter. As a side note, to be safe I took the batteries out when I heat set my LED candle. You might want to do the same if you try this at home.

Well I hope that you enjoyed today's project! Hopefully you leave here excited to create your own spring project! Now to check out the rest of today's blog hop! Up next is Eimear Carvill! The theme today is texture! I decided to add texture with a few of my favourite Stampin' Up! products. The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack has a gorgeous rustic look to it, and it's full of texture. I also of course had to play with the new Blossoming Basket Bundle! This bundle of products is free with a purchase of $120 during Sale-A-Bration (if you are in Canada). The basket weave embossing folder that is included in this bundle is gorgeous! I can't wait to play with it some more. Check out this bundle of products in the picture below. Are you not in love?

I also added some Stampin' Up! Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon, and a few sequins from the Stampin' Up! Iridescent Sequin Assortment for your tactile pleasure. I am sure that the recipient of this card will be running their fingers over all of the textured elements I used here. It's hard not to.

Well I hope that you enjoyed today's project. Up next is Maike Beimler! She has amazing style! I can't wait to see what she has to share with us today!
