Memorial Award Ballot Box- With Fringe Scissor Flowers

In this journey called life, we are sometimes fortunate to cross paths with what I like to think of are life altering beings. Beings that change us for the better, that leave that imprint on our lives, and make us strive to be better. A better person, a better friend, a better partner, and sometimes for caregivers like myself a better nurse. This project that I'm sharing with you today is extra special in that it represents one of those special beings. This person was a nurse mentor to many. She was one of those people whom left a forever impact on myself, as a person and as a nurse. She left us for her journey to heaven in 2010. It was just over two weeks before loosing my father that we lost her. I will never be able to dissociate the two as it was such a painful time, losing two special people so close together. Anyhow, when I was asked to create a ballot box for her "Memorial Award" I was more than honoured. She will always hold a special place in my heart, and I can only dream that one day I will be as great as she.

I chose to put a few of my favourite retired Stampin' Up goodies to use for this project. These flowers were a new technique for me. My fringe scissors sped up the process of course! I might just have to create a tutorial for them as they were super fun and easy to make. I can't wait to see this box fill up with ballots containing names of all the amazing nominees whom I am blessed to call my co-workers.

If you are interested in checking out Stampin' Up's super amazing line of products, including the fringe scissors, you can click on the shop icon to your right. It will take you to my online Stampin' Shop which is full great papers like the ones I used on this project.

Thanks for stopping by, and maybe try and take a moment today to reminisce on how someone you know has inspired you to be better. I'm sure there are a few remarkable beings on your list.

Shake It Up - With a Stampin' Up Shaker Card!

Happy Tuesday! I decided to break out a few of my new Stampin' Up goodies today & put aside some time for a little creative play. Shaker cards are making a resurgence in the papercrafting world these days. I have been itching to make one! My daughter stamped along side me this afternoon & we both came up with a few surprises. I love that she is the age where we can really enjoy crafting together. It's every mommy stamper's dream really!

The shaker card I made today was inspired by this week's sketch over at TGIF (#TGIFC59). Click on the sketch icon below if you are interested in checking out other cards that were influenced by this great layout!

As for the colour combo, today's choices included Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, Sweet Sugarplum, & Rich Razzleberry!

With such great products to work with, and so many great inspiring pieces wherever you look, it is pretty quick and easy to come up with a great card to give your loved ones. Stampin' Up also has some great video tutorials, such as the one below, that walk you through all of the steps so you can learn how to create your own shaker if you haven't already done so!

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed today's Stampin' creation! If you are interested in checking out all of the supplies that went into the making of today's project, please just click on the images below. They will take you to my Canadian online Stampin' Up boutique!

Stampin' Up New Catalogue Release!

Hi everyone! What better reason to share a post than to announce the new Stampin' Up 2016-2017 Catalogue! Along with it I am sharing with you a brand spank'n new card that features one of my most favorite new stamp sets, Pop of Paradise. Since I fell in love with this set I feel like I am seeing flamingos and pineapples everywhere. I'm not sure if this is a new trend, or if I have just found a new love, maybe it's both!

Funky hey? I love that card making can be funky & not just frilly foo foo. When looking for some pineapple inspiration I came about these color me rad like pineapples.

http://www.224apparel.com/blog/post/if-you-were-a-tropical-fruit

I thought, how can I get this pineapple to stamp a rainbow without actually running through a cloud of rainbows with it? Not that running through rainbows isn't fun!

Well what I came up with was to try out the baby wipe technique. I hadn't done this in forever, but it worked quite well. If you haven't heard of this technique before, you basically take a fresh baby wipe and ink it up with your favorite colors of re-inkers to make your own custom ink pad. Cool hey? I also spritzed the inked up baby wipe with some H2O (using the stampin' spritzer) before stamping my images. That way the colors meld together more, and you get that nice tie dyed look.

I used the colors shown in the supply list below. One of them being Dapper Denim which is a new color that was just introduced. To check out all of the other new products and colors, just click on the catalogue below to browse the virtual copy.
